COURSE DETAILS:

This course is designed to give the participant the knowledge and skills to work within an organisation as a WHS safety advisor, assessor, officer or supervisor. During the course participants will learn to identify hazards and risks, implement strategies to control those risks and to comply with current WHS health and safety legislations. This course will give the participant the knowledge and confidence to organise a company’s WHS management systems contributing to health and safety within the workplace.

NB: While there are no prerequisites for this course, good language and literacy skills are needed to complete the course in the required timeframe.

It is desirable that students hold, or have work experience equivalent to a Certificate III in Work Health and Safety.

Course Outline

During this course your trainer will cover the key areas of work undertaken by an Work Health and Safety Officer or Advisor. A mixed course delivery of written and practical sessions is implemented to ensure students obtain a complete qualification readying them for their role within an organisation. Participants will learn to:

  • Implement and maintain an organisations WHS management systems
  • Educate workplace personnel in WHS issues
  • Understand WHS legislative requirements specific to industry and region
  • Implement measures needed to fulfil an organisations WHS initiatives, goals and responsibilities
  • NB: Simulated work environments or actual work tasks may be used during training sessions to enhance understanding through practical assessment where this is deemed relevant.
